Graduate Offerings

The School of Engineering Design and Innovation's graduate programs provide engineers of all disciplines with the ability to work together to solve design challenges, develop their leadership and entrepreneurship mindsets, and enhance their professional skills through unique and diverse graduate offerings focused on real-world, project-based learning. No GRE test scores are required. All programs are STEM OPT eligible. 

Doctor of Engineering

  • Comprehensive 45-credit program
  • Major program milestones include the qualifying exam, comprehensive exam, and praxis defense
  • Incorporates the rigor of a Ph.D. but shifts the focus of career progression from academic research to leadership in an industrial or commercial setting
  • Application deadlines:
    • SpringApply by October 3 to start January 12
    • SummerApply by March 6 to start May 18
    • FallApply by June 5 to start August 24

Master of Science in Engineering Design and Innovation

  • Comprehensive two-year, 32-credit program
  • Completion of a thesis
  • Ideal for engineers wishing to pursue a traditional two-year, research-based master's degree
  • Students may specialize in one of the following focus areas: Engineering Design; Engineering Leadership and Innovation Management; Engineering, Law, and Policy; or Entrepreneurship
  • Application deadlines:
    • Funding consideration: December 15
    • Last day to apply: March 15

Master of Engineering in Engineering Design and Innovation

  • Intensive one-year, 32-credit program
  • Completion of an engineering internship or a scholarly paper
  • Ideal for working engineers who wish to dive deeper into design
  • Students may specialize in one of the following focus areas: Engineering Design; Engineering Leadership and Innovation Management; Engineering, Law, and Policy; or Entrepreneurship
