Introduction to Engineering Design, edited by Sven G. Bilén, McGraw-Hill Primis Custom Publishing, 2001 (ISBN 0-07-250899-X). If your book is missing an Index, it may be obtained here.

First Design Project Manual: Handouts
CAD Workbook: CAD Tutorial will be provided in the computer lab and online.

Equipment Needed

Set of Drawing Instruments: GeoSet by Staedtler--available at the bookstore

Previous semesters have used a larger set of tools that came as a kit.  You may also use that if you have obtained a used set.

Drawing Paper (required): Engineer's Computation Pad (green ruled paper) with binder.
Computer Memory: All computers have USB ports and CD-R (read, but not write) drives.  You will receive an allotment of online space on the CEDE network and have access to PASS space through the university.  You will need storage space for CAD projects, spreadsheet data, word processing, HTML files, images, etc. You will need to determine the appropriate method for you to transfer files.

Additional Materials

Possible Extra Items: In addition to the items above, students may also find that no more than $10 per student may be needed to purchase materials for design prototypes or models. The ED&G100 course will make attempts to purchase prototyping items in bulk for use in multiple sections and a small allotment will be made for use of the rapid prototyping machine, if desired, in order to minimize costs to the student.
